Sustainability at BakerHicks .

At BakerHicks, we are committed to tackling climate change. We’ve been caring for our environment for years, developing a project delivery ethos centred fully on sustainability and efficiency.

Sustainability

Sustainability, by design.

With the agenda for climate action now gaining global momentum, alongside our Group’s target for achieving net zero carbon by 2030, our role as built environment professionals is more important than ever.

As engineers, designers, project procurement and delivery teams, we have a significant influence over the sustainability of the buildings and infrastructure we deliver. Along with our clients, and as part of a fast-evolving construction industry we have an incredible opportunity to leverage this expertise, challenging the status quo and developing workable, affordable sustainability strategies to decarbonise our communities, now and for the future.

Sustainability Commitments .

  • Net zero business by 2030

At BakerHicks, we are committed to reducing our own operational carbon so as a business, we are net zero carbon by 2030.

  • Operational carbon

We are committed to working with our clients to deliver only operational net zero carbon new builds by 2030.

  • Reducing embodied carbon intensity

Reduce embodied carbon intensity of all new buildings, major retrofits by 50% by 2030.

Ensuring a whole life carbon approach on every project.

Sustainability in action

We recognise our influence on the planet, its people, our business performance, and our client’s projects. We’re delivering some of Scotland’s first Passivhaus buildings in the public sector. We’re growing our talented team of low carbon, BREEAM and Passivhaus experts, working across the disciplines to minimise a building’s energy use whilst delivering high levels of occupant comfort.

New technologies including Morgan Sindall’s carbon calculation tool – CarboniCa, are helping us monitor whole life emissions for projects, informing clients and design teams at critical times throughout the journey.

Challenging new sustainability procedures are now adopted for every project and we’re ambassadors for Architects Declare and Engineers Declare – dedicated to addressing climate and biodiversity emergency as an industry.
